I got a question for everyone. I got my 2010 Java ! last year with the upgraded stereo and we just picked up my wifes 2011 Titanium ! with the same stereo, after setting it all up for her I found out that on the 2011 you can stream audio via Bluetooth from your phone, like Pandora or the mp3 player in the phone. So my question is there an upgrade for the 2010 souls to stream audio? Because that is the thing I miss the most from my last truck with the after market radio. Is I could stream audio and now I cant. Its the same radio so it probably only needs a software upgrade. Any help with this question would greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'd love that as well. I use an iPod BT adapter in the iPod port so I can stream from my Droid. Would be nice to take the "middle man" out of the mix.

der00 did you know you have the wrong radio version on your radio. There was a TSB to address a Sirius issue that upgraded the firmware from 1.00 to 1.01.

Like Rod said, there was a TSB to update the firmware. I found this on KSF on how to get into the programming mode of the radio if you can get a copy of the newer software version.

There is a separate thread here discussing the upgrade process for the radio to get to version 1.01 of the radio firmware. Part of the the firmware upgrade process involves pressing buttons in a certain sequence to open up the radio to "engineering mode" or "programming mode." Once in this mode there are more options besides just upgrading the radio's firmware via USB drive. Here's what I've mapped out so far:

Disclaimer: This *could* hose your radio, so proceed at your own risk. You will most likely lose all your presets if you proceed, but I think you'd have to work hard to do much worse than that...

(with the radio powered off, press and hold 1 then quickly press and hold 5 and keep both held down for five seconds. Simultaneously release both buttons. Then press the "1" button four times. This will display a menu showing the current firmware version, and also display an (F) - this means you're in engineering mode).

If you press the 1 button after the above procedure, you have a menu of three choices:
4 Micom (firmrware upgrade of the radio)
    5 DSP (??)
    6 Font

If you press the 2 button after the above procedure, it will look to do the firmware upgrade off the CD ROM. Boring - let's keep moving

    Button 3 gets interesting:
    1) GUI On/off (I tried this and couldn't figure out what GUI was toggling!)
    2) NOR -> EEP
    3) EEP -> NOR
    4) SIRUS DM Mode (!! - Is this what I think it is??)

    Button 4:
    1) Radio Level Mode On/Off (volume automatically louder as you increase speed)

    Button 5:
    1) RF Test Mode
    2) BT Firmware Update
    3) BT Delete all Pairing
    4) BT test something (can't read my own scribble!)

    Button 6:
Select Area (mine set to USA_BT - Use the tuner knob to see the myriad of choices)

Plenty of interesting stuff to play with! Any ideas what "NOR -> EEP" means? And for those who have had their Sirius subscriptions expire and don't mind losing all your presets, some playing around with button 3 option 4 might be...shall we say "fruitful" ??

Oh, and word of warning about the BT (bluetooth) test mode - there is one test under that menu that causes some wicky loud feedback if you have your speakers turned up!

Well, if you could update from version 1.0 to 1.01, then it should take version 1.03.

We just have to find a copy of it. How about a dealer?

chevy2guy, can you ask at work if it is available?

Every time I'm at the dealership for service they try to upgrade me from 1.00 to 1.01 with no luck. I'm looking to just skip the 1.01 upgrade and go right into 1.03. On my wife 2011 Soul when you hit the CD/AUX mode it cycles through CD>USB>PHONE

I Also found this in the 2011 user manual

    That proves it there.

Hit the dealer and ask them to try to upgrade you to 1.03 instead, since 1.01 doesn't work.

I just asked at the dealership about this and they came up with nothing the best they could suggest is call KIA's #800,

and BTW to find out what software ver. all you have to do is with the truck turned on to acc make sure the radio is off and hold down the #1 and #6 and there it is.

Well, should we start a "letter writing" campaign to Kia?

By that of course I mean hammering their 1-800 number to get the upgrade released.

I just got off the phone with the KIA #800 and what they told my is " there is nothing available right now and KIA is looking in to it.and they dont have the capability of upgrading the radio" it sounds like the guy was just giving me a line of BS.

Lets start the calling so we can get the newest upgrade.

I agree. Completely BS because they have the 1.01 upgrade available still for download on KiaTechInfo.

    Begin calling!

Staff, let's discuss how to deseminate this to the rest of the site.

I just wanted to give everyone the heads up on what has been going one with this one. I have to warn anyone who has a Blackberry and a 2011 Soul software, my wife is having nothing but problems with this new version, She has a phone that is not on Kia's Bluetooth list but my phone is and I'm having the same problem she is. The phones will pair up for about a day and after a couple times turning the truck on and off all you get is the radio telling you that "pairing failed" over and over and over until you shut the truck down. When you have the Soul off you need to turn off your Bluetooth on your phone. The real kick in the pants is both of our phones work fine on my 2010 Soul.

The dealer was no help they just told us to go buy a trac phone :thumbsup1: and the Kia #800 told us you should have checked the web site before buying the truck and it's a Blackberry issue and Blackberry saying it a Kia issue. :beercheers:

So the moral of the story is Blackberry's and 2011 Kia Souls Bluetooth do not mix well at all.
