I'm from a military family, so I too followed into the service.

My Grandfather, 1 Great-Uncle, Father, Step-Father, 2 Uncles, 1 Brother, and 1 Brother-in-law have all served our country.

I served in the USAF for 8 years on active duty from 1992-2000.

I started out as an Air Traffic Controller, and finished my career as a Visual Information Journeyman (I did computer graphics and IT support).

I made it to the rank of Senior Airman (E-4). Twice (long story). hehehe

I have one Honorable Discharge, and one General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions.

I was stationed in TX, MS and CO. Never got the chance to go overseas or to the sandbox (even though I volunteered many times).

I have lost a total of 4 friends in Iraq and Afghanistan; one of them a high school classmate I've known my whole life.

I am very proud of my service, but am glad I got out when I did; however I would go back in in a heartbeat if they called and said "We need you!".

The Veterans Administration classifies me as a Disabled Gulf War Veteran, and I have a 20% disability rating for a service connected disability.

I was qualified on the M16, M4, M9, M60, and the M203 grenade launcher, and in other things, but I never saw any type of combat; I flew a desk for the most part. I was a "Chairborne Ranger".

My dad's father ran the psychology department at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. My mom's father was stationed on the Kiersarge (sp?) aircraft carrier in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He earned the Purple Heart when a jet crashed while he was on deck and a piece of shrapnal lodged in his back. He lived the rest of his life with it in there.

E-5 (Sergeant) United States Marine Corps (USMC) Sep 1995 - Aug 2000. Served one 5 year enlistment so I could attend an electronics repair course. Bootcamp was in Paris Island, SC. I attened the Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment Repair school (2871) in Albany, GA from Feb 1996 to Dec 1996. Transfered to Camp Lejune, NC from Dec 1996 to Aug 1999. Then transfered to Okinawa Japan for my last year before being Honorably Discharged in Aug. of 2000. My job or MOS 2871 keep me in a lab environment 99% of the time. Most of our field training would be canceled due to work load, so I can only remeber being in the field over night after bootcamp one time. I had an awesme time while in the Marines. The only thing I would do different is stay in for another 4 re-enlistment. I gave up $25,000 resigning bonus for a failed relatioship. But, I guess I would not be where I am today if I had. "Semper Fi!"
