What Oil And Oil Filter Do You Use?

Pennzoil 5w-20 Ultra full synthetic. Registered for 15 year 500,000 mile warranty. Pennzoil allow me to change the oil at the KIA suggested intervals for normal driving at 7500 miles and still quaify for the warranty.
I will change the oil again at 7500 miles and then every 7500 miles after that.
The car seemed to run smoother on the way home after the oil change. First time for full synthetic, I confident this is the right choice after much research. Better gas mileage, better protection and allows for better flow of oil and heat distribution.
Many really good synthetic out their but Pennzoil oil is my choice.

I haven't changed my oil yet since I'm only 250 miles in, but I will definitely NOT be switching to synthetic. Synthetic might last longer between changes, but it is not so much better like people claim. Do your research. Read real, independent studies from reliable sources.
I never used synthetic oil in my 1995 S-10 and I let oil changes go 10,000 miles. I had 140,000 on it when I traded it in and the motor was still strong. I never had a problem.
Amsoil is the worst for fabricating studies and they try to pass off lies and opinions as facts.

Only ONE other I've found puts the pressure in the right range.

I would/did change my oil at around a 1000 miles, putting in recommended weight regular oil. At around 4000 miles I switched to Mobile 1. I will continue to run Mobile 1 changing oil between 5000-6000 miles.
I have a 2010, you need to find out what is in it now, whether it is synthetic or not. I did a Google search on Total Quartz and I didn't see a 5-20 either, but they may make it. You really only have to use an oil with the minimum ratings required by Kia. They can't specify a brand. I doubt the dealer is using Total in their bulk oil dispensers

Hell, Kia and Hyundai even have Technical Safety Bulletins about this.
Not to mention, the Kia/Hyundai filters are cheap, and VERY high quality filters. Made by Wix I believe.

As for synthetic/non-synthetic oil they leave it up to the customer's personal preference. Some purchase their own synthetic oil (as I do by the case from Costco) some purchase a specific brand of oil and bring it in while others just pick from what the dealership has to offer (regular, semi-synthetic or full synthetic) Their philosophy is that as long as it's getting changed per KIA's recommended mileage/time intervals they don't care which brand of oil you put in your car as long as it meets the specs for the car. Although they did get put on the spot by a guy who travels extensively for several months at a time (he puts less than 5,000 miles a year on his Optima) and the service dept. wouldn't commit to answering in front of everyone how often he really needed to come in for oil changes.

I can tell you this.
1. Fram filters don't have it.
2. K&N filters don't have it.
If I remember correctly, the Mobil 1 filter is the ONLY aftermarket one I found that DID have it.
How will you know? Well, if you use an aftermarket filter and hear a lot more engine noise than usual, it doesn't have it. You'll hear your valves making a lot more noise without the proper pressure.

Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30 & OEM filter.
If anyone is looking for OEM filters, I ordered a 6 pack from this seller, they had the best price, comes to $5.83 each, and delivery was free and quick. Another cool thing it my wifes santa fe takes the same filter.

I have a case (6 with the crush washers) of the OEM filters on the way from Deland Kia for $5 a piece plus shipping. I'll be using a synthetic blend of 5w20.
That's exactly what my dealer, "Citrus Kia" uses. They will be taking care of my Soul for the next year, so I'll not be worrying about what to use till after that.
$5 ea. for filters is a very reasonable price, so I may go with those too.
It's all about giving my engine the best possible maintenance while keeping the price down.
That's why I built permanent concrete ramps in my back yard, so I can quickly and easily do my own oil changes. I even do them for my neighbors.
