Minimum around the Chicagoland area in 55mph highways is 45, but I doubt they'd change that if the speed limit was raised. Once you get further away from Chicago (1.5hrs+), 65 becomes more common.

I think 45 is too slow for a minimum, I came up on someone doing 45 on the highway, traffic was 3 rows wide I was in the slow lane, all 3 rows were doing 75ish? yeah, well, when you come up on somoene doing 45, it wakes you up. I am surprised they don't get rear ended at times.

In city limits though (still talking about i45), most cops don't care that you speed as long as you're not moving faster than they are.
Not saying I approve of speeding. It is illegal and you will get caught and penalized for it. Not a matter of if you get caught, its a matter of when.

At 80 on my own speedometer, I'm only doing 75 by my digital Scan Gauge II.
On the speedometer, I've seen 110 easily. She's a pretty spunky little car!
But yes, gas mileage goes to H*** in a handbasket at anything over 65.
I get the very best mileage when drafting a semi that's cruising at about 62, under cruise control. (I can always tell)
Anything between 35 and 50 is typical. The Soul really suffers from the lack of aerodynamic styling. (no big mystery there, Eh?)

I don't speed anymore, but I have to know the limits of my cars. I do it on every car after I get it, but I could probably go a bit faster now.
I'm in New Mexico, with long, LONG stretches of freeway with no one on them. If I wreck, it's just me.
I barely hit 85 passing someone. I'm usually doing 77. Speed limit here is 75.
BTW, my Tiburon cuts it and limits it to around 135. Ask me know I know.
